Putting an End to T1D
This September will mark 10 consecutive years of running the 200 mile Reach the Beach relay. On September 15 & 16 we will again run from the White Mountains in New Hampshire to Hampton Beach over two days to raise money for JDRF, critical type 1 diabetes research and ultimately find a cure.
In 10 years we have raised over $1,000,000 for JDRF! As parents of a child with Type 1 Diabetes, I can assure you that it’s a big deal and will and make a meaningful difference in the treatment and cure of T1D.
Many of you gave generously last year (and all the years before!). We sincerely thank you and hope you will support JDRF again. Please know every donation is meaningful – whether it’s $5 or $5000. Every dollar helps us get closer to our goal.
JDRF is an international organization that funds critical research for treatment and ultimately a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure (at least not yet!).
JDRF has played a key role in funding virtually every advance in Type 1 Diabetes treatment and research; from insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors to the modern insulins that all insulin-dependent diabetics use today. JDRF has awarded 150 new research projects in and is currently funding 70 active human clinical trials and research in 21 countries. JDRF is also a significant contributor to the greater Boston economy, with more than $41 million designated to 44 local research projects as well as investments in four companies in Massachusetts
