I know I like to make jokes about my diabetes (and even have a rocking DiaBEATes playlist), but this disease really does have a huge impact on every aspect of my life. From low blood sugars that keep me up later than my homework to preventing me from going on walks with friends to having to take my exams in separate classrooms, diabetes has been a huge burden on my life for almost ten years.

Through these struggles I have found a passion for health care and helping others with T1D. Between advocating for insulin affordability, researching cures for diabetes in a laboratory, and even incorporating a company while developing an app to assist with management, sometimes it feels like my entire life revolves around this disease. While I am grateful for the numerous opportunities associated with T1D and the incredible people I have met along the way, I am still hoping for the cure.
