Let's create a world without T1D!

Each year at this time the football program hosts the JDRF Lift for a Cure Event where Darien football players put their weight into lifting for a cause.  Type 1 Diabetes (TID) is an autoimmune disease that affects both children and adults and presently has no cure. Those with TID are dependent on injected insulin as well as multiple daily finger pricks to test blood sugar levels. Life becomes a balancing act keeping blood sugar levels balanced and stable. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading global organization funding TID research, working for the millions of children, adults, and families affected by this disease every single day. TID has affected our own football family. Blue Wave Alumni Joe Sheehan was diagnosed three years ago and participated in a JDRF funded study. Alumni Blue Wave player Kevin Grune has been living with TID since the age of 4. Will Wilson (brother to Alumni Blue Wave Captain Sam and Blue Wave Captain Jake), former Blue Wave team manager Cathy Hunter (sister to Blue Wave Alumni Charlie),  Colton Stafford (brother to Blue Wave Alumni Jeremiah), Jen Laird (mother of  Blue Wave Alumni Teddy) and Evan Kirby (diagnosed at age 10 and brother to Blue Wave Freshman Jason Kirby) have all been affected by this disease. With funding and research, the goal is to make Type 1, Type None.

Please help the Darien Blue Wave Football Team in raising money towards their goal of $10,000 in supporting our players when they Lift for a Cure. Any and all support is appreciated.

The lifting competition will take place on February 29th at DHS.

We encourage everyone to get involved and raise money for this worthy cause and come cheer on your teammates if you are not lifting.

Donations may be made online here or mailed to Michelle Sini at 36 Birch Road,Darien, CT 06820. Please make checks payable to “JDRF.”

*When making a donation online, please be sure to add the player's name or General Team Donation under "Personal Note” so players get credit for their friends and families donation.

Thank You!

Roll Wave.
