Be the rally for research type
There are three types of JDRF One Walk teams: family, corporate and schools/youth organizations. Family teams aren't limited to family members—they can include friends, coworkers, classmates and neighbors. Corporate teams are created by companies who want to support T1D research, but just like family teams, anyone can join, even non–employees. Starting a school team is a great way to educate students about T1D, help them support classmates affected by the disease and give them a chance to make a positive impact.
No matter what type of team you're on, walking with others is beneficial. Teams generally raise more money, gather more support and awareness for T1D, and create a sense of camaraderie. To start a team, just register as a team captain and invite anyone you like.
Once you register you'll have access to your online Participant Center, where you'll find tips, tools, email templates—and everything you need to build your team and have fun raising money for research to help people with T1D live healthier and longer.
