What is type 1 diabetes (T1D)?
Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone essential to turning food into energy. There is currently nothing you can do to prevent it—and there is no cure.
HOW CAN I FIND MY LOCAL JDRF CHAPTER?
JDRF has chapters throughout the United States and six international affiliates. To find your local JDRF chapter, click here or call 888-533-9255.
Is there a registration fee?
JDRF One Walks don't require a registration fee but we encourage all participants to fundraise or make a donation. In fact, the average walker raises over $200 for research to help cure T1D.
Do I need to register ahead of time?
Yes. Registering online gives you access to a number of great fundraising resources and lets us keep you updated on the latest JDRF and Walk info. It also gives us an idea of how many people to expect at each Walk, so we can plan ahead for refreshments, T–shirts and volunteer staffing.
How Do I Register My Family?
You have the option to add children under the age of 16 to your online registration. Look for the "Register My Child" button on the last step of registration. Adding your child (or children) will ensure that all event communications are sent to your email address.
All individuals that do not fall under the child registration category will need to register themselves with their own unique email addresses.
If I participated last year, how do I get my login information?
To retrieve your login information, visit this page. Under the orange LOG IN button, there is a "Forgot Username or Password" link that will assist you in retrieving this information.
Can I Participate In Jdrf One Walk If I'm Not On A Team?
Yes, you can choose to walk and fundraise individually. But walking with friends, family or coworkers can make the Walk more enjoyable and rally even more support for JDRF.
How Can I Join A Team?
When you register, you can choose to join an existing team or create your own by registering as a team captain.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF TEAM CAPTAIN?
Team captains recruit other walkers and inspire them to raise money for T1D research. You serve as a leader, set your team's fundraising goal, help your team members meet it—and have a lot of fun along the way. And JDRF provides tools, tips and other resources to help you build a successful team.
Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, but we encourage every participant to support JDRF by making a donation and fundraising. Our average walker raises over $200 to help create a world without T1D. Every dollar counts!
How are donations made?
Donations can be made via cash, check or online with a credit card. All checks should be made payable to JDRF.
Do you accept employer-matching donations?
Yes, talk to your human resources department to find out if your company participates in our matching gift program or search the matching gift database. You can double or even triple your fundraising contribution to JDRF.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, all donations to JDRF are tax-deductible.
How do I get a JDRF One Walk t-shirt?
Any participant who raises or donates $100 or more, on or before Walk Day, will receive an official JDRF One Walk T-shirt.
Can I still fundraise if I can't attend a Walk?
Of course! You can choose to sign up as a "Virtual Walker" when you register. This means that even though you won't be walking in person, you'll still run a fundraising campaign and virtually "walk" to support JDRF. And, you'll still be eligible for awards and fundraising rewards!
Can I fundraise after Walk day?
Yes, any funds submitted within four weeks of Walk Day are included in qualifying totals for individual fundraising rewards and team awards. Any funds submitted after that are still accepted and although they won't qualify you for rewards, they still go toward life-changing T1D research.
What kind of support will I receive?
JDRF chapter staff can assist you every step of the way with helpful fundraising resources, and any other support you may need. And. your online Participant Center is filled with great fundraising tools and resources to help you be successful.
WHAT IS V1P?
V1P status is exclusively awarded to our top 5% of fundraisers who individually raise $1,000 or more. To celebrate your dedication to raising money for T1D research, youíll receive a special item to wear on event day and ďV1PĒ treatment including access to a private tent with expedited check-in privileges, fun activities and a few surprises. Reach out to your local chapter for more details!
CAN I EARN ANY Rewards FOR FUNDRAISING?
Yes! When you fundraise for JDRF One Walk, you help get us closer to a world without T1D. To thank you for all your hard work, we offer some great fundraising rewards. After your final donations are tallied, you can select a reward based on your fundraising total. There are multiple levels starting at just $250 and the more you raise, the more options you can choose from. Check them out here!
In addition to these rewards, you can also earn a JDRF One Walk t-shirt when you raise $100!
What should I bring the day of the Walk?
Make sure to bring your completed walker donation form and collection envelope with any cash or check donations. Donations can also be handed into your local JDRF chapter beforehand, as you collect them.
How far is each Walk?
Most JDRF One Walks are 3 miles long, although they can range from one to five miles. Some have shorter routes for families and children that want to walk, but may not be able to complete a longer route. You can find the details on your Walk's event page.
What should I wear?
Dress casually and wear comfortable shoes, but make sure to check the weather beforehand so you can dress appropriately.
What if there is inclement weather?
Most JDRF One Walks take place rain or shine, so it's a good idea to plan accordingly in the case of inclement weather.

What is a jdrf community one walk and how is it different from a jdrf one walk?
The JDRF Community One Walk program was created to give people who donít have an existing JDRF One Walk in their area an opportunity to organize their own. The Walks are led, planned and executed by volunteers who bring their communities together to raise awareness and funds for T1D research.
I donít have a jdrf one walk in my area. How can i start a jdrf community one walk?
