JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D at all ages and all stages of the disease. Driven by dedicated volunteers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with T1D, JDRF is the largest nongovernmental supporter of T1D research.
The goal of JDRF research is to improve the lives of all people affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. “Less until none” is our promise to progressively remove the impact of T1D on people’s lives until it is no longer a threat to anyone. Our strategic plan aims to deliver a continuous stream of life-changing therapies and, ultimately, a cure for T1D.
Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has awarded more than $1.7 billion to diabetes research. Every dollar we spend every year to fund our research plan comes from our donors.
The Walk to Cure Diabetes is our largest fundraiser, and we exercise great fiscal care when using donations from the Walk.
The money you raise helps JDRF:
Currently, JDRF has $530 million at work around the world advancing our research and advocacy goals. It may sound like a lot, but it is not nearly enough to realize our plan of funding the most critical research. As our largest fundraising program, the Walk to Cure Diabetes raises millions of dollars each year that are essential to advancing T1D research and creating a world without T1D.
