JDRF is proud to announce Medtronic and Lilly Diabetes as National Presenting Co-Sponsors of the 2014 Walk to Cure Diabetes series. Their sponsorship of the Walk is a one-year commitment of $550,000, beginning with our 2014 spring walks. We are thrilled to welcome two of our most generous industry partners as National Sponsors of JDRF’s flagship fundraising program. Both Medtronic and Lilly Diabetes have been strong supporters of the Walk for over ten years and contribute more than $300,000 to the program annually through their corporate Walk team fundraising efforts.
For more than 30 years, Medtronic has been committed to helping people with diabetes achieve better control to live longer, healthier lives. Medtronic has supported JDRF through local chapter events and national programs for more than 10 years, including the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, special events, and advocacy. Today, Medtronic is one of three partners supporting JDRF’s T1D Care Kit, a resource for adults newly diagnosed with T1D. The kit includes important adult-focused, life-stage resources, including Medtronic educational inserts and the book Calorie King. Medtronic is also a valued research partner and member of JDRF’s Industry Partner Advisory Panel, a forum whose purpose is to maintain an open dialogue with JDRF’s industry partners.
Lilly Diabetes has been a global leader in diabetes care since 1923. Lilly Diabetes began supporting JDRF more than 15 years ago by sponsoring the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, Ride to Cure Diabetes, and Gala in its local Indianapolis market. Today, Lilly’s support of JDRF touches multiple programs nationwide. Lilly sponsors Walk and outreach events in several JDRF markets throughout the country through an annual partnership that is in its second year. The company also is a committed sponsor of JDRF Children’s Congress, provides underwriting for JDRF’s Teen and School Advisory Toolkits, and has contributed more than $3 million directly to research since 2007. In 2012, Lilly Diabetes began including information in the JDRF Bag of Hope to make families aware of its collaboration with Disney Publishing through a series of books such as Coco and Goofy’s Goofy Day. Lilly Diabetes is also a member of JDRF’s Industry Partner Advisory Panel.
2014 marks Advance Auto Parts' 21st year of support for JDRF's efforts to create a world without T1D. To date, Advance Auto Parts has raised more than $35 million for JDRF. With more than 3,900 locations in the United States, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands, Advance Auto Parts Team Members are tireless in their efforts to give back to the communities in which they live, work, and play.
Ford Motor Company has supported JDRF since 1983. In 1998, Ford expanded this relationship with the creation of the employee-driven Ford Global Action Team (FGAT), combining the passion and power of Ford employees, families, and friends, as well as key business partners from WPP, Mazda, BP, ADESA, and the UAW. With tens of thousands of volunteers working together, the FGAT has consistently raised more than $3 million annually over the past twelve years. With more than 90 fundraising teams across 40 global sites, Ford has raised more than $45 million to advance our shared goal to create a world without T1D.
Marshalls has partnered with JDRF since 1994 and through in-store fundraisers has raised millions of dollars to support JDRF's goal to create a world without T1D. Marshalls employees also volunteer with their local JDRF chapters, and many associates organize and participate in Walk teams for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in each local market. Marshalls is one of the nation's leading off-price family retailers with more than 900 stores spanning 43 states and Puerto Rico.
Walgreens has partnered with JDRF since 1992 and has raised nearly $24 million dollars in support of JDRF’s mission to create a world without T1D. Walgreens generates funds for JDRF through a consumer-driven campaign in more than 8,000 locations in the United States and Puerto Rico. The company also sponsors the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes in several markets and offers an internal employee giving campaign to support JDRF.
