Jon didn't have Type 1 diabetes but he lived with Type 1 diabetes, which is not an easy feat.
This year I will be riding, 100 miles in LaCrosse Wisconsin, in memory of my husband, Jonathan, to help improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). Jon passed away on May 21st.
One thing I will be forever grateful about Jon is how great he was about that I am type 1 diabetic. Living with T1D is difficult and life threatening, and it never goes away.
T1D and caregivers are frequently dealing with the unreasonableness of high blood sugar and low blood sugar. Jon understood this and was always was there with juice and snacks when I felt low; he dealt with the bad moods of highs - and the tiredness that overcomes you suddenly as your body is always tested. At that time I did not have an insulin pump or fast acting insulin and outdated blood sugar meters.
Technology has come a long way, and we can stay healthier as a result. Insulin can start acting in 15 minutes as opposed the 2-4 hours I used to have to wait to feel better when my blood sugar got to high.
Now, more than ever, I will continue to raise money for the JDRF, my 7 and 8 year old more than ever, need Mom to live a long, healthy and active life. I know Jon would agree.
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
