This October in Death Valley, about three hundred bike riders from across the country will participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Ride to Cure Diabetes. I will be one of them.
I rode 50 miles in Death Valley last year. This year I intend to go past that mark.
I started taking my bike on long trips when I was in college as a way to control my diabetes and for enjoyment. When I was in my twenties, I began riding to raise money for diabetes education and research. It has been 45 years since I learned I had diabetes. The treatment of diabetes has improved amazingly in those years. But that is not enough. I do not want any more children to get diabetes.
Can you help my efforts with a donation of any amount? Donations to JDRF are tax-deductible.
