Who I ride for

Wow, it's only been a few months since I rode 250 miles in the desert of Death Valley for JDRF, and here I am beginning to prepare for another ride!

2013 will mark my 5th and possibly 6th Ride-to-Cure events.  That's right, if I can raise $8,000 I will particiapte in both the Nashville and Death Valley rides.  My reason is to create awareness, and raise funds to help find a cure and provide better managment of type 1 diabetes.

As you may know, my son Ryan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes over 12 years ago.  There is no known cure for this disease, and the complications are life altering and deadly.  I am asking for your support.  Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts.  By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.

Nashville will host the newest ride-to-cure location with over 4,420' of vertical climbing.  Advanced riders will find it challenging: intermediate riders will likely find it one of hardest rides they have done.  And I thought last year's ride was tough!  But this ride is no match for the difficulty of living with and managing type 1 diabetes.

    Did you know that:

    • T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
    • T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
    • Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
    • Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?

    Thank you for your support!

    Snow and rain
What an incredible winter! Snow, sub-zero weather, and now rain. I saw someone riding outside this weekend. I was nice and toasty on a spin bike for a couple hours Saturday. Looking forward to warmer days and dry roads.

    Another season begins!
I am signed up for the Nashville Ride-to-Cure! I've been spinning 4 hours/week trying to keep my legs turning. I hope to be outside riding my bike in 3 months, then 5 - 6 months of hardcore training begins.
