You already know that Type 1 diabetes is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, and that a large and growing percentage of them are children. You may not know that it also strikes many adults...including me!
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is committed to finding a cure, and I am committed to doing everything in my power to support this effort.
I plan to take part in the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes in Tucson, Arizona along with hundreds of other cyclists across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising millions of dollars. My personal goal is to ride 100+ miles in a day!
Another goal is to help inspire other adult Type 1 diabetics not to take their fate lying down, but to engage in high-intensity exercise programs and find ways to live healthy, normal lives.
The exciting news is that now, for the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime!
