Welcome to my JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes Page!
Jake (my son) and I will be participating in the JDRF 2014 100 mile race to Cure Diabetes in Nashville, TN this October. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
Jake was diagnosed with T1D in 2008, a few days after his 12th birthday. Within a month of being diagnosed, Jake was able track his carbohydrates, test his blood glucose several times a day, calculate the precise dose of insulin, and give himself 4-5 injections a day. A huge responsibility for a 12 year old.
I continue to be impressed with his ability to take on managing this disease while maintaining a 4.0 GPA, lettering 3 years in varsity wrestling and volleyball, and participating in many other extracurricular activities for the last six years without any complaints.
Every dollar Jake and I raise helps JDRF in their pursuit of turning Type One into Type None. What a great day it will be when the world is rid of T1D!
Any amount is appreciated and ultimately helps Jake and the millions of others with T1D.
Thank you for supporting team Jake and Blake on our cycling/fundraising endeavor!
