Welcome to My Personal Page

Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $5 million.

Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children.

There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.

Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!

Fall is now upon us and soon we will once again be heading out to Death Valley to join the JDRF?s Ride to Cure Diabetes on October 20th.  We will be bicycling with a group of about 300 riders in a one-day event that will cover 105 miles.  Our goal this year will be the metric century, 100 Km or roughly 64 miles.  This year there is a new recognition noted along the ride that was actually started last year.  It is simply called ?Mile 23?.  This is the mile marker along the ride where all ride this mile in silence, in remembrance of those that have died from

    Type 1 Diabetes.

We will certainly stop at Mile 23 and take a moment to remember Scott, but this tribute also makes another profound comment.  That is that too many of our friends and family members have lost their lives to this disease.  This is our focus - that there is an urgency to find a cure to this disease and to do that, we need to fund the research needed to achieve this goal.

JDRF is a global leader in its mission to fund research to ?Cure, Treat, and Prevent

Type 1 Diabetes? and they are making significant progress.  Just this past year the JDRF played

a major role in working with the FDA to facilitate the approval for human clinical trials of the Artificial Pancreas.  The progress is very encouraging and that is why we ask that you join our team with your financial support.

You can easily help us by one of the following means:

                 - Dontate to Tom by clicking the BLUE "Donate" button at the top of the page

                 - online for Nancy at    http://www2.jdrf.org/goto/NancyMcManus2013

(Make sure you check out the video on the right side of the page!)

     - Send your 100% tax-deductible pledge to the JDRF office at 30 Glenn Street, Suite 409, White Plains, 10603.  Make checks payable to the  ?JDRF? with ?Team McManus? on the memo line.   You can search for ?Ride to Cure in memory of Scott McManus?.   It is only a 3-minute video and we hope the pictures of Scott will make you smile!

We thank you for your consideration of this request, and we thank you in advance for your support!  Any donation you can afford will help us reach our fundraising goals and bring us closer to finding a cure.

    Sincerely,

    Tom
