Thank you for finding your way to my JDRF Personal Ride Page.
2014 marks my 11th year of participation in this amazing Ride and fundraising event for JDRF. My Beautiful Bride, Christine, was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes 17 years ago, and we are both committed to do all we can, as volunteers, to advocate on behalf of JDRF. The organization is recognized as one of the world's best charties for purpose, financial accountability and responsibility to its donors. We are proud to be connected to JDRF, whose sole purpose is to raise money, to fund research, to CURE Diabetes, proclaiming to "be in business to one day be out of business". Volunteerism is the fundamental premise of JDRF and The Bride and I contribute in a big way.
Christine's management of the disease is remarkable. Never dettered by interruptions in sleep (almost nightly), coping with insulin and the many pump- and Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)-related supplies, constant attention to food intake and the effect on blood-sugar levels, she maintains a great attitude and resolve. It also encourages her (and me) to do all we can to make Diabetes a thing of the past. Every year, advancements in research keep our drive sustained.
This is where you come in.
Please support me in this year's fundraising initiative. Christine and I have seen firsthand over the past several years the magic of the donated dollar, and how quickly it becomes a big number in our household, a big number with our wonderful group of fellow riders (55 +/-) from the Minnesota/Dakotas Chapter of JDRF and, finally, on a national level, with over 1400 riders from across the country taking part in one of 6 ride venues offered annually. $5 million raised by the Ride to Cure program in 2013. Too cool for words.
Thank you. Please know we understand the options you have for tax-deducted charitable contributions. We sincerely appreciate the consideration and, if possible, your financial support.
PS: I maintain a Ride Journal & Blog, should you wish to learn more about the ride and our personal story: http://www.mattjakubowski.wordpress.com
