Please Support My Son Jonah in the Fight Against Type 1!

Dear Friends:

It has been more than two years since my little boy Jonah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Due to his diabetes, Jonah's pancreas no longer functions to maintain his blood glucose at a safe level. As a result, my wife Meredith and I have to take the place of Jonah's pancreas by constantly monitoring and tweaking his food and activity levels, checking his blood with six or more finger pricks a day, and injecting him with insulin four to six times a day. The good news is that Jonah is generally in good health today. His blood sugar is reasonably well controlled and his "A1C" numbers are good. Still, because of his diabetes, Jonah's life and health are always at risk.

Type 1 diabetes is a life-long disease with no cure. It does not "go away," nor will Jonah ever outgrow it. For children like my son Jonah, the best hope to eliminate the risks of living with type 1 is a cure. And the only way to a cure is scientific research. That's why I support JDRF, which is the leading charitable source of funding for type 1 diabetes research worldwide. This year, I am again taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes. Along with hundreds of other riders across the country, I will ride my bike 100 miles on July 14 as we try to reach our goal of raising $5 million. My personal goal is to raise $5,000 for JDRF. To get things rolling, Meredith and I have made a donation of $1,000.

Please support my son Jonah by making a donation to JDRF. Any amount is appreciated, and no donation is too small! To donate, click the "Donate to James" link on this page. Or, if you prefer, you can mail a check payable to "JDRF" to JDRF Capitol Chapter, 1400 K Street NW, Washington, DC 20005, attention Delia Whitfield (include "Ride to Cure/James Grosser" on check). JDRF is a 501(c)(3) charity, so donations are tax deductible.

Now, more than ever, we can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!

Thank you for supporting my campaign.
