Or reasons to be cheerful... part three
I am not an athlete.
You understand that right? I am not an athlete. Oh sure I run and ride my bike around town, take the occasional yoga class and such but one thing I'm not is an athlete. So why am I doing this? For some reason, an old punk song by Ian Drury and the Blockheads keeps running through my head.
If I can do this, anyone can.
One thing I have learned is that when people see this slow, zaftig middle-aged lady running along the side of the road is often, "If she can do this, so can I." I am always amazed at how by not letting the usual things stop me, it help other people realized not to let the usual thing stop them.
My students and friends are awesome!
I have a couple of students and friends who have T1D (Type 1 Diabetes) and they don't let things stop them, so when I get stuck, I look at them to inspire me to keep going.
Together we make a difference
I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). It's one of those things that can be treated but not cured and maybe the few dollars you donate to me changes that - which would be a real reason to be cheerful.
Give us all a reason to be cheerful:
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
If nothing else, this will be totally amusing.
Seriously, me for 100 miles on a bike. You can follow my (mis)adventures as I train and ride at my personal blog:

but make sure you then click the donate button over there on the side of the page.
Thank you for your support!
