On 09/21/2013 Mason and I will be participating in the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes in Nashville, Tennessee after a 2 year hiatus. As you may know, Mason was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in April of 2004, a disease that affects millions of children around the world. As a result, besides closely monitoring his diet, Mason must test his blood sugar levels three to four times a day (this equates to approximately 1,100 finger sticks per year) and take insulin after every meal or snack via an insulin pump that effectively is his life support system. And this will continue every year for the rest of his life until a cure is found.
