Welcome to my JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes Page!
Wow... I can't believe this will be my third time participating in the event! I am both excited and anxious about the coming ride as I know how emotional, challenging and invigorating this event is!
This year I am taking part in the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of riders from around the world, to raise money for JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. My goal is to actually finish the ride this year! I'm going to adopt my husband's philosophy... slow and steady!
I was introduced to JDRF by David Cramer five years ago and was concerned about participating in the ride because I am not a cyclist. And although that would certainly help in completing the ride --- I learned after the first year that I rode, that the main reason we are out there is to promote awareness to find a cure for Type One diabetes. It has made be aware and eager to support the cause. See some of the statistics below and help me raise funds to find a cure!
Did you know T1D:
- Strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle.
- Occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin is essential to turning food into energy.
- Requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.
JDRF is working every day to change this. And every dollar I raise helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found.
I have been hard at work training and fundraising, and your gift today will propel me toward the finish line. Please donate and help JDRF achieve its goal of a world without T1D.
Please check back to view my fundraising progress as my Ride weekend approaches. Thank you for your support.
All the best!
