SEVENTIETH YEAR OF LIFE
FIFTH RIDE IN DEATH VALLEY
PLEASE JOIN ME IN FUNDING THE SEARCH FOR A CURE
For the FIFTH time, I'm participating in the annual Death Valley Ride to Cure. The funds raised are for research to find a cure to Juvenile Diabetes, also called Type 1.
From my past FOUR experiences in Death Valley, be assured this is not necessarily a pleasurable fun ride (except for the friends you ride with). The terrain is almost like being on the moon. Part of the 105 mile ride in one day includes a steep eight mile uphill climb to the half way point. Temps in 2011 reached 114º F. Winds, Leg cramps, dehydration, saddle sores, loss of energy all hanging as potentil threats to shorten the ride, ... But as you ride along, mile after mile those irritations become secondary as you think of the many kids and adults whose lives are impacted by this disease EVERY DAY of their lives - checking their blood sugar, ingesting insulin, trying to lead a normal life - all the while hoping that a REAL CURE will be found.
Your donation at any level you may choose, means that we can both proudly say that we helped to find a permanent cure for this horible disease.
Why do over 300 riders do this every year? To find out, I suggest you watch the short video found at: http://ride.jdrf.org/ridevideo We ride:Not for ourselves, but for those who suffer.
Maggie and I are covering the basic cost of the trip so that every dollar YOU DONATE goes directly to diabetes research to find the cure. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
