I ride for my beautiful daughter Bailey who was diagnosed with type I diabetes (T1D) at 18 months old. Bailey is 16 years old now and has taken over most of her diabetes care. Like most teenagers, Bailey has had trouble with responsiblity but unlike most teenages the lack of responsbility significantly impacts her health relative to her diabetes care.
Bailey is a very strong young lady and has handled the fact that she has diabetes really well. She does not complain about having to check her blood sugar 4 - 6 times a day, she does not complain about having to keep track of the food she eats, she does not complain about having to get her pump site changed every 3 days, she does not complain about having to take time to fill her pump with insulin when it runs out or replacing the battery on her pump, she does not complain when she feels low and has to wait until it is normal before she can resume activities, she does not complain about having low energy when her blood sugar is high, she most certainly does not complain about having T1D. But even those that don't live with T1D nor have a close family member that has T1D know that T1D really just SUCKS!
Will you help us take make DIABETES LIVEABETES and turn type 1 into NONE?
Thanks for your consideration!
