    Welcome.

Time once again to gear up for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Ride to Cure Diabetes.  On August 16, 2014  I will ride 100 miles in Lacrosse, WI to raise funds for type 1 diabetes (T1DM) research.  I will ride in honor of my friend and patient Patricia Queen.  Although 55 years of T1DM has been tough on her body, it has not dampened her spirit or her enthusiasm to help others who now have and who will have T1DM.   For Pat, other adults, and children with T1DM each day is filled with uncertainty and there are no days off.  JDRF offers hope.  Hope for a cure tomorrow and for better treatments today.  Some of the breakthroughs are being used by my patients  right now thanks to JDRF sponsored research.

JDRF funds the most ambitious research for T1DM and has consistently earned an A rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy and praise from Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, among others.  More than 80 cents of each dollar raised goes directly to T1DM research.  So you can feel confident that your dollars are going to the cause.

In my 9th Ride To Cure Diabetes I also wish to honor the memory of our beloved dog Koko, who had T1DM for many years and recently fell to complictions.  No longer in our home, but always in our hears.

Please help Pat and I pedal closer to a cure by making a fully tax-deductible contribution. You can also send a check to JDRF. 205 Regency Executive Park Drive, ste 102, Charlotte, NC 28217.  With your help I know that we can make a difference for the millions of persons with T1DM.

Adam Spitz, MD.  Diabetes specialist and JDRF supporter.
