Turner's Ten Year Campaign

Turner and mom on a birthday ride

Welcome to my JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes/Turner's Ten Year Campaign page

We want Turner to have a day in the future where he says, “I used to have type 1 diabetes”.  Today, he has to check his blood sugar before every meal, before bed, before he exercises, after he exercises.  He has to do all this just to be ready to do all the things other college kids do:  study, take exams, write papers, play squash with friends, go to frat parties, go skiing, apply for jobs.  Derek and I can’t do anything to help.  So instead we raise money for research.  This year, Derek continues to serve on the JDRF International Board of Directors, and will take on the position of Vice Chair in July.  I am currently President of the Greater Missouri/Southern Illinois Chapter Board.  We both raise money as part of Team St Louis through the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, I run in the Team JDRF running events, we work on Gala and Major Donor committees, and other smaller efforts.  The Arch City Theater Troupe, founded by Turner’s sister Helen, will have its tenth annual show this summer.  It has raised over $175,000 in its first nine years and we are very proud of the impact ACTT has had on the over forty kids and teens who work together to build a show each year.  We all continue to help with coaching the new leadership and work on the fundraising aspects of the show each summer.

Ten years!  That is how long Turner has had to center his life every day on blood sugars, carbohydrates and insulin  We want to honor his efforts to live a healthy life.  We want to raise $20,000 for JDRF this year, and we plan to match that amount.

Thank you for your donation to help Turner and the millions of other children and adults living with T1D.
