In early September, I'll be taking part in my 9th consecutive JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country riding to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away.
My daughter Hannah is now 16 years old and has been living with T1D for more than half her life. We work (especially my wife Cathy) to help Hannah manage this disease and its side effects. About 4 to 6 insulin injections per day help her live a more normal life, but it is not a cure and it is still very cumbersome, disruptive and something that shortens her life expectancy.
While Hannah is my primary inspiration to ride, there are too many other children who suffer from juvenile diabetes who serve as an inspiration. Unfortunately, over the past 2 decades, the incidence of Type 1 diabetes has increased at an alarming rate in children all over the world.
My goal is to raise $17,000, surpassing last year’s total!
My ride date is September 8th and I hope to receive your reply by August 28th (Of course, JDRF and I can accept a donation at any timeJ).
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
Thanks a bunch for your support!
