What a difference a year makes. In January of 2013, I was signing up for this ride as an Alabamaian, now I'm registered as a Tennesseean. This ride is personal. It's my hometown ride, and hits my heart a little differently.
I hope you'll join me for another year of cycling stories and photographs as I raise money to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. In addition to riding the Nashville route, I'll also be heading to Lake Tahoe, Calif., with my Alabama cycling buddies for 72 miles in September.
You can support either ride as both benefit research for type 1 dibaetes. Are you ready for the best ride season yet!? Stay tuned for updates and as always, you can follow the training journey online through social media and victoriacumbow.com.
So here we go – another year of training and hard work. Another year of determination and self-discipline. I ride with purpose and conviction. I certainly don’t have the physical strength or the athleticism of a professional athlete, but I have heart. And I have diabetes. Couple those with my stubborn streak and my desire to encourage others and we have ourselves a dedicated JDRF cyclist.
