Well, we are at it again! We have signed up to ride 100 miles in the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes and take on the challenge of raising at least $6,000 for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Tom has been living with T1D for 16 years and we relentlessly fundraise for JDRF because he battles this relentless disease 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Thank you for your support last year, we were absolutely blown away and knew there was no way to top that whopping grand total of $18,000 raised! But we had to increase our challenge for 2014 somehow…
Century ride? Been there, done that. So how about a century ride in DEATH VALLEY?! I know, now we ARE crazy right?
It’s true; we will be hard at work, training on our bikes for the next few months to conquer 100 miles in one of America's most otherworldly natural wonders – also one of its hottest! This journey culminates the weekend of October 16-19 for us and hundreds of other riders at the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes in Death Valley! It will take A LOT of training (specifically heat training), time on the bike, blood sugar checks, good nutrition, and more time on the bike, PLUS we each have to meet a fundraising minimum of $3,000 to participate.
Please help us surpass our combined goal of $6,000. As you think of your charitable giving capacity for 2014, think of us… we are once again literally putting our blood, sweat, tears, and even more sweat on the line and we hope you will support us with a donation!
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic plan to fight T1D, and our best hope to help Tom live a healthier and safer life while scientists search for a cure. All donations made to JDRF on our behalf are 100% tax deductible! Read more about JDRF's plan for the future: http://jdrf.org/research/
