This will be my second time participating in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in March 2011. This is why my wife and I join hundreds of other riders across the country to support JDRF's search for a cure. Last year, we were able to raise $6,000 thanks to the generosity of our family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. This year, we are hoping to raise $8,000!!!

Did you know that:

• T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
• Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States. The risk of death for people with diabetes is about double that of people of similar age without diabetes.
• Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has funded more than $1.6 billion in T1D research and has dramatically advanced the T1D scientific frontier and the management of this disease. In FY2011 alone, JDRF provided more than $116 million for T1D research.
