Join me in the fight to cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes!
Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). Ben is my inspiration to ride these 100 miles in LaCrosse, WI on August 17, 2013. When Ben was diagnosed in October 2008 with T1D I was shocked and scared, and asking God "Why my boy?". No one else in my family had diabetes except my aunt in Italy and she passed away many years ago. Ben has taken on the duty of daily care and control of his disease better than I would have and to this day he has it completely under control.
Ben is off to college in September, he will be attending UW Platteville, three hours away and I can't help him if he needs me. This really scares me and the whole college life, he has been educated on what drinking can do to your blood sugar and how important it is to eat a balanced meal. Education and research for a cure is what our donations are going towards, 85 cents of every dollar goes to research.
I recently was informed that my nephews son has T1D and he is only three years old. So with two family members that have this potentially deadly disease it gives me even more motivation to ride.
If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. And they know it never goes away.
I am asking for your support. Ben & I are required to raise $2000 a piece for the bike ride. If everyone on my email list donated at least $20.00 I could make my goal. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
