Why Do I Ride?
I Ride For……..Jack, Deb, Grace, Hannah, Patrick, Sam times two, Mark, Bob, Dick, Matthew, Chris, Barry, Mark, Joanna, Troy, Sarah, Georgia, Farley, Jason, Kevin, Connor, Keith and the 3 million others who have to live with T1D every day of their lives.
This year I will be riding around Lake Tahoe to help JDRF turn Type One into Type NONE. Please partner with me to help fund JDRF research. Every dollar I raise helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found. Here are a few of the things JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, is working on:
Beta Cell Encapsulation Research JDRF’s encapsulation program is developing easily implanted products composed of beta cells surrounded by a protective shield. Such products will allow beta cells to constantly sense a person’s glucose levels and produce insulin as needed, while protecting the beta cells from further immune attack.
Artificial Pancreas Project A Technology Driven Solution to Blood Sugar Control. JDRF’s artificial pancreas project will link continuous blood sugar readings to an insulin pump through a sophisticated computer program that automatically calculates and directs the delivery of the necessary amount of insulin just like a normal pancreas.
My goal is to raise $5,000 to help my friends.
