I ride because I can make a difference!

Here's just one story...

It's 2a.m. I am staying the night with friends. She disappears into her son's room. She sticks the small flashlight between her teeth because she doesn't want to wake him by turning on the light. She rolls him over to find his hand and pokes it to draw a bead of blood. A test strip. A reading. His blood sugars are a bit high. She adjusts his insulin in the pump attached to his thigh. A kiss on the forehead and covers are laid back over the young boy. Sweet dreams little one.

His parents do this every night. And it broke my heart to see it.

I am riding again because I can make a difference in their lives - with your support.

Last year I conquered 104 miles through the hottest place on Earth... Death Valley. What an amazing moment when I crossed the finish line 10.5 hours after starting!

This year -- I WILL conquer the hills of Nashville!

I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D).  If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening.  And they know it never goes away.

I am asking for your support.  Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts.  By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.

Did you know that:

• T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?
• T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
• Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
• Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
