Welcome to my JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes Page!
I’m taking part in my second JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of riders from around the world, to raise money for JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
The bottom line is T1D is a nasty and challenging disease for those who are afflicted with it. Luckily I am not. However, several of my friends are, and must deal with the daily struggles and routines. My wife was recently diagnosed with Type 2, which is hard enough to deal with. I cannot image what life would be like if she had Type 1.
So, I was challenged to make my passion for cycling into something more meaningful. Made sense to me. Train hard with purpose, and work hard to raise the funds. Honestly, I am always concerned about reaching the fundraising goals, especially since I do not like asking people for support. So, I do most of my fundraising as a volunteer at the Van Andel Arena, plus working at other fundraising events. I will log about 200 hours at the arena with the help of my friend Larry, and some help from our wives. My thanks to the VA Arena and SMG.
JDRF is working every day to change this. And every dollar raised helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found.
If you would like to partner with and support me, that would be awesome. Your gift today will propel me toward the finish line. Please donate and help JDRF achieve its goal of a world without T1D.
