Join me in raising money to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes(T1D). Although I am not a T1D, my family is affected by this life-long disease...
This September, Heather and I will be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). My beautiful wife, and the mother of my two wonderful children, was diagnosed with T1D at the age of four. Since that time, Heather has endured almost 50,000 finger sticks; checking her blood sugar 6 or more times per day. T1D is a crazy disease that requires constant checking, re-checking, and re-checking in an effort to stabilize blood sugar levels in an attempt to keep them as "normal" as possible. Often it requires treating low blood sugars in the middle of the night and I wake up to find Heather downstairs drinking juice or having a snack to treat those lows. The battle to maintain a normal lifestyle, is every minute of every hour of every day. It is constant...
I am asking for your support. Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts. By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes, including my wife, Heather.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Your donation is fully tax deductible, and by donating on my page you will receive a tax appropriate receipt noting your generous donation. My goal is to have 100% of my donations complete by July 1, 2013. Take the extra three or four minutes today, immediately after reading this, to make your pledge. I can suffer 100 miles on the bike for 6 or 8 hours of cycling if people across the land like Heather can endure a lifetime with T1D. By supporting Heather and I in our efforts to raise money and ride this century together, you are helping her and millions of others, have hope that we will find a cure during her lifetime; a cure to help prolong lives without complications. More time to watch our children grow up, as we grow old together.
I thank you for your support of Heather and I, and I welcome any questions or comments you might have. We are currently signed up for the Tucson ride November 23, 2013. Thanks again in advance for your support of JDRF and finding a cure for T1D!
Warmest Regards,
Tim Irey
