Century ride (100mi), here I come!  Join me in the fight to cure, better treat, and prevent type 1 diabetes!

This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with hundreds of other riders across the country to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D).  If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening.  And they know it never goes away.

I am asking for your support as I ride for my past and future students.  As a teacher I see the challenge T1D brings into the lives of children.  It would be amazing if one day a cure, or better treatment, or a prevention was found for T1D and never again would one of my little ones have to prick their finger, watch their sugar levels, count their carbs, etc. everyday.  Please donate to my personal fundraising efforts.  By doing so, you can help me make a difference for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes.

Did you know that:

• T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age?  It is a misconception that T1D is caused by eating habits and/or lifestyle - not so.  
• T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle?
• Those living with T1D must carefully balance insulin doses with eating and daily activities throughout the day and night?
• Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 6 or more times a day?  365 x 6 = 2,190 minimum needle pricks per year.  Ouch!  How many of you don't even like ONE prick when you go to the doctor or something? 

As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat, and prevent T1D.  JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.  I'm willing to ride 100mi in one day for this cause.  Won't you please be awesome and give to JDRF as generously as possible?
