"If you feel like there's something out there that you're supposed to be doing, if you have a passion for it, then stop wishing and just do it."
I want a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
Welcome to my JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes Page! I am challenging myself both mentally and physical by taking part in the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, along with thousands of riders from around the world, to raise money for JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
I was diagnosed with T1D on January 8, 2012. I was finishing my senior year at the University of California, Davis and felt invinsible. This diagnosis was a huge surprise, but thankfully I had a fantastic role model and teacher at home, my dad. My dad was diagnosed with Type 1 at the age of 36. Together we work very hard to make the best of our not so strong pancreases and involve ourselves in the JDRF community. JDRF has given me the opportunity to take part in an organization that I will forever be invested in. Thanks to the fantastic people I have met through JDRF walks, galas and social activities, I have a huge support group, new friends and opportunities to take part in.
JDRF is working every day to improve the lives of individuals with Type 1. And every dollar I raise helps them continue to bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the community until a cure is found. Right now, research is moving forward in regards to an artifical pancreas, smart insulin and encapsulation. All amazing progress!
I have been hard at work training and fundraising, and your gift today will propel me toward the finish line. Please donate and help JDRF achieve its goal of a world without T1D.
Please check back to view my fundraising progress as my ride weekend approaches. Thank you for your support. I could not do this without my friends and family.
If you want to ride with me, please join me, if you want to cheer me on, please join me too :)
