Please support me during this new adventure to battle Type 1 Diabetes!

Plain and simple, I hate Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). I hate that millions of people worldwide have to suffer from such a devastating chronic disease. I hate that young children have to feel ‘different’ from their friends because they have T1D. I hate that these young children eventually grow into adolescents and adults, and despite the advancements in technology, there is still no cure for them. But most of all, I hate T1D for a very specific and personal reason: for taking the life of my beloved family member and friend, Danny Zolotorofe.

Danny tragically lost his ten-year battle with T1D when he was only 20-years-old, suffering from every diabetic’s worst nightmare: Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA). Danny was truly one-of-a-kind; he had this innate ability to make you laugh, to make you feel loved and to make you feel like you were important, even after the very first time meeting him. He never let T1D slow him down and had achieved so many accomplishments in such a short amount of time: student council president, honor student at the University of Maryland, esteemed member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, to name a few. Though Dan’s time here on Earth was cut way too short, his memory will live on forever. Now, here’s where you come in to help me do so!

On Saturday, November 22, 2014, my daughter Melissa and I will be riding our bikes 42 miles through the Arizona desert as members of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Ride to Cure Diabetes team. This will not only be a remarkable experience for my daughter and I to do together, but will be fulfilling for such a noteworthy cause.

I have set a personal fundraising goal for myself of $4,000. To some, this may seem a bit ambitious, but to me, this demonstrates my real commitment to finding a cure for T1D. As one of my cherished friends, I am asking for your support in helping me achieve my fundraising goal by donating to my efforts in the fight against T1D. Something that has stuck with me throughout each personal fundraising campaign is that every amount, no matter how minimal, truly adds up and makes an impact. Additionally, please inquire about your company’s Matching Gifts program, as this might be an opportunity to double your donation!

If you are interested in making a contribution, please find the instructions on the next page. All donations are 100% tax-deductible, as JDRF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation. Please know how much this means to me and my family; you are truly taking an active role in keeping Danny’s memory alive for our family and friends, who miss this remarkable man every single minute of every day that he is gone.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! I appreciate your generosity in supporting me during this adventure!

    Bob
