Welcome to my personal Team JDRF to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
Hello!! This year I have decided to join Team JDRF to raise money for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes. The money I raise will help JDRF fund research to progressively remove the impact of type 1 diabetes from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease, most importantly, my sister Shannon.
As most of you know I have become more and more active in the past couple years since graduating college. I haven’t found anything more fulfilling and amazing than achieving a goal that you never thought possible. Because of this, I have decided to run the Disney World Half Marathon with Team JDRF January 11, 2014 in honor of my sister, Shannon.
Since Shannon was diagnosed at the age of 4 up to this very day she continues to amaze me. Every day she continues to live as any other normal college student. She has become such an amazing young woman and I am so lucky to call her my sister. I could never imagine having to live with Type 1 Diabetes and handle it the way she is able to.
Although Shannon would never consider herself my hero, she never ceases to amaze me as she strives to continue to live life as a normal college student, despite the obstacles that are thrown her way. Juggling her school load as an engineering student, her health as a diabetic, and her social life as a college student has shaped her into such an inspirational person and I don’t think I would find anything more gratifying than running in honor of her to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
In an effort to raise money to JDRF, I have decided to run with Team JDRF to help find a cure for Shannon and the millions of others affected by this terrible disease. Any amount, great or small, helps JDRF get closer to its goal to improve the lives of every person affected by Type 1 Diabetes by helping to progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing Type 1 Diabetes.
Please support me and donate to my fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Included with this letter is a stamped envelope already addressed to me. Please make the check out to JDRF and include my name in the “Memo” section. Thank you so much for your support!
