Join me in the fight to create a world without type 1 diabetes!

Welcome to my personal Team JDRF to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!

My dad, Steve Tant, is going to run The Dopey Challenge in January 2014.
He is going to run 48.6 miles for me and for JDRF so maybe one day, hopefully there will be a cure for T1D.

T1D, also known as Type 1 Diabetes, is an auto immune disorder which basically means that my pancreas quit working and it can't produce insulin anymore to regulate the carbohydrates that I eat, which means if I eat too much or have too little insulin I could go into a coma due to high or low blood glucose level.

My dad is going to raise at least $3500 for JDRF, to help and hopefully then cure Type 1 Diabetes. We're going to need YOUR help to raise enough money and to finally cure T1D. By donating you will be helping JDRF and its research to help find a cure. Any donation will be helping any kid, teenager, or adult that has Type 1 Diabetes.

Thank you.

My son, Ryan is a champ in handling all that Diabetes has brought to our lives.
He has good attitude about it, rarely complains, and doesn't let it get in the way of activities that he wants to do.
In a typical day . . . Ryan must check his blood sugar at least 7 times a day by pricking his finger and taking a blood sample.
Depending on the blood glucose number and the carbohydrate count of the food and drink, we then determine the amount of insulin needed. It has truly been a learning curve with regards to food, drinks, carb counts, and a new form of math that isn't taught in school . . .etc.

When I first heard about the Dopey Challenge, as a runner, I wanted to do it.
Then I thought, let's do it with purpose and raise some money for JDRF.
Ryan thinks I'm crazy for running 48.6 miles . . . Yes I am!
It will be worth it.

Please know that your donation is being used wisely.
100% of my these proceeds go directly to JDRF.
JDRF was just mentioned by Forbes Magazine
