Put me out of a Job!
Many of you know that I have become a runner - not a fast runner, but a determined runner that believes in herself. Running has changed my life and I would like to use my passion for running to change the lives of those living with type 1 diabetes.
When I came to work for JDRF nearly three years ago I did not have a direct connection to type 1 diabetes. I had a few friends from school that had 'diabetes', but I never knew what it was really like. Over the last few years I have met many wonderful people that have diabetes, have children or loved ones with diabetes and even some who have tragically lost someone to diabetes. I now consider all of these people to be my direct connection to the disease. It’s because of these connections that I love my job, but it’s because of these connections that I want to be put out of my job as a fundraiser for JDRF!
So it’s time for me to put my running shoes on and raise as much money as I can to help fund critical research that will ultimately lead to the cure for type 1 diabetes - and a new career path! I will be participating in The Dopey Challenge at Disney World in January 2014 - running nearly 50 miles through Disney World. It’s called The Dopey Challenge because you might have to be a 'little off' to think this is a fun way to spend your vacation time.
This event is comprised of the following challenges:
Thursday 5K Run (3.1 miles)
Friday 10K Run (6.2 miles)
Saturday 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles)
Sunday Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
