Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
This summer, I went to Washington D.C. to represent Arkansas as a 2013 JDRF Children's Congress Delegate. I was amazed at what JDRF does to reach out to our United States Congressmen, to continue to fund research to help treat and cure Type 1 Diabetes. I was able to meet with both of our United States Senators, Mark Pryor and John Boozeman, as well as our United States Representative, Tim Griffin. After that, we attended a Senate hearing which was focused on hearing about Type 1 diabetes and the Congressmen and Congresswomen pledging their support to cure Type 1 diabetes. Ray Allen of the Miami Heat was there with his son, as well as many other Type 1 celebrities. It was great to hear their stories of how they've dealt with type 1 diabetes in their careers. Typically, Type 1 diabetics don't let the disease get in their way, but it takes a lot of extra work to succeed!
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Type 1 Diabetes increased 23% for people under 20, between the years of 2001-2009. The number of adults predicted to have Diabetes by 2050 is 1 in 3. Roughly 10% of that figure is type 1 Diabetes. We need a cure, SOON!
Basically, YOU or someone you care about could easily get diabetes. Whatever you can do to help stop this disease would be greatly appreciated by about 285 million people and their friends and family. Tim Griffin, our Arkansas representative, had a graph that showed how health care costs were eating up (like Pac Man), our federal dollars. A cure would go a long way in saving health care costs.
Please support me and donate to my Walk fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible today?
If you can't give money, go to the JDRF site and see what you can do to advocate for a Cure. JDRF is on a mission and greatly appreciates any help you can give!
Thank you for your support!
