Join Oliver's Glucose Patrol and help us raise some money to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes!
On February 24th, 2013 Oliver's life was forever changed! He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and currently there is no cure. After spending 2 days in the hospital learning how to count his carbs, take his blood glucose, and give himself injections he was able to go home. Almost a month later on April 1st, he took another huge step in managing his disease and got an insulin pump. The pump is amazing!! He now only has to give himself one injection (to put the pump site in) every 2-3 days. We are taking this disease day by day and learning something new everyday! Hoping and working towards a cure for him,
We will be taking part in this year's walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money we raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Oliver is so excited to be participating in this year's walk and is looking forward to having lots of friends and family walk with him. Please support us and donate to our walk fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Team shirts have been designed and will be available to those walking for a cure! There is no cost to walk or for the shirts, but a donation made to the JDRF would be greatly appreciated by them, Oliver and his entire family. If you cannot donate, we hope that you can still come out and show your support by walking with Oliver and being a part of his "Glucose Patrol"!
Thank you for your support!
