Diabetes affects each individual and family different and though I was not raised around diabetes from a young age I have witnessed it first hand for a very long time. As most of you know, my own sister Kailey-Alyssa was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2010 at the age of 18. It has been a huge adjustment for our whole family. Type 1 diabetes is a disease that does not sleep, take vacation, hold back or discriminate. Every year 30,000 are diagnosed with this autoimmune disease and has no cure or prevention.
In an attempt to encourage and support all diabetics, not only my sister, I have formed the Walking Wildcats in order to raise money to support the research required to find a cure. In order to accomplish this goal, my team and I will be participating in the 2013 JDRF walk for a cure. This will be the fourth walk I am participating in, so I hope this year is just as great; but, I need your help to do so!
I greatly appreciate your consideration and support of this most worthy cause. I look forward to having as many people as possible join us on October 26th!! Even if you are unable to join us in the walk, I appreciate any and all donations made to the Walking Wildcats as part of our overall fundraising.
We are taking steps to help JDRF achieve its goal of improving the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D) by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D. By joining our Walk Team and making a donation, you will be helping us to raise funds to directly support research with the greatest potential to conquer this disease.
We are motivated by the courage and perseverance of those facing the everyday challenges of type 1 diabetes - they are the reason we challenge ourselves to give more, to do more, to achieve more. We challenge ourselves to make a real difference in the lives of those with T1D.
Will you accept the challenge to make a difference by walking with us? All we need you to do is click on the "Join this Team" button, make a donation, and begin fundraising. It's simple, fast, and fun!
Thank you for your support, and we'll see you on Walk day!
