Please Support Michael & Allie Cohen in the 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes
Dear Friends and Family,
The annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is coming up on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Please help TEAM COHEN in their fundraising efforts.
As many of you know Michael was diagnosed 8 years ago with Type 1 Diabetes and has been living with and managing this condition for almost half of his life now. 6 months ago, our family was thrown for a loop when Allie was also diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes just before her 15th birthday.
Allie has really taken on the challenge of diabetes head on. She was able to get an insulin pump right away and has had to learn very quickly about how to manage her condition.
Michael has been great helping to teach Allie how to manage her diabetes, but now Michael is away at college which is a whole other set of challenges for him and the family. This now leaves Allie at home going through the struggles on her own.
Many of you have been so generous in the past and once again we are asking for your support for this very special cause.
This year is the ninth year that we'll be taking part in the fundraising efforts.
TEAM COHEN has raised over $58,000 for research to fight this terrible condition!
Many people think type 1 diabetes can be controlled by insulin. While insulin does keep people with type 1 diabetes alive, it is NOT a cure. Aside from the daily challenges of living with type 1 diabetes, there are many severe, often fatal, complications caused by the disease.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the #1 non-profit funder of diabetes research worldwide and JDRF is making steady progress toward a cure. In fact, JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. One of JDRF's largest fundraising events is the "Walk to Cure Diabetes."
We're writing to ask for your support because now more than ever, EACH of us can be a part of bringing about a cure. Each of us can make a real difference. Please give to JDRF as generously as you're able. Together, we can make the cure for Michael and Allie a reality.
Please be sure and find out if your company participates in charitable matching of contributions made by their employees. Many companies do this and it's a simple way to double your donation to TEAM COHEN.
