Hello! This year, we be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of curing diabetes!
This disease affects us personally as our son, Kody, was diagnosed at age six (6) and our lives changed forever. We will never again eat a meal without counting the carbs. Kody has to poke his fingers 8 to 10 times a day to make sure he is ok. Every 3 days, we change his insulin pump site. Every night between 1am and 3am we check Kody's blood sugar levels so we know he will always wake up in the morning. He is an inspiration and so strong, but JDRF gives us that hope that some day we won't have to worry and Kody can live a normal life!
Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children.
There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Follow Kody and his goal to make master diver at at www.diverbetic.com. He created this site to help other diabetic children and adults realize they can do anything despite their fight every day with Type 1 Diabetes.
