This year, our TEAM BRANDON will once again be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes at Tempe Town Lake on November, 2rd, 2013, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $89 million. This is the forth year our TEAM BRANDON will walk for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Our grandson, Brandon, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes in 2009 just 2 days after his second birthday. It's been a roller coaster for him and his parents - keeping his blood glucose regulated and 24/7 monitoring. The multiple daily needle pokes to test blood glucose, counting carbs in everything he eats and drinks, and being connected to an insulin pump has now become a daily lifestyle for him and millions of other type 1 diabetics.
Type 1 diabetes, or juvenile diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, a large and growing percentage of them children. After many years, diabetes can lead to serious problems with eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, blood vessels, and other areas in the body. There is some good news, though. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide and it's making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF through TEAM BRANDON's Walk to Cure Diabetes? Together, we can make the cure a reality! Please check out our TEAM BRANDON 2013 YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yoAluQmaTY
