It's that time again - time for the annual JDRF walk on Nov. 2nd. Won't you join Britt's Brigade as we walk to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes?
As many of you know, my family has battled with this disease for nearly 49 years. My brother, Donald, was diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile) diabetes at the age of 2 and has struggled ever since!
My beloved niece, Brittani Colleen Manning, was born on March 19, 1986. At the age of 2, we received the news that she too, was a type 1 diabetic. Then, for a 3rd time learned that this disease had struck once again when my niece, Danielle, was diagnosed at the age of 8. Fast forward 15 years and we learned that my niece, Kristina, had also been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes.
My family's struggle with this disease has been a difficult one, but none more difficult than that of Brittani. She battled this disease for 19 years, but it ultimately played a part in her untimely death 5 years ago, at the young age of 21. Juvenile Diabetes is often genetic and with the latest technology and research we hope that a cure will be found soon so that our youngest generation (Ava, Dylan, Isabella and Gabriella) will never have to know the struggles of this disease. So we not only walk for Brittani, but for all who have to deal with diabetes directly or indirectly on a daily basis.
Please join us in honoring Brittani by walking, volunteering at the event or making a donation. There is no fee to enter the walk, but we would appreciate it if you could help us in our goal to raise $3,500.00 in donations. All donations are welcome, no matter the amount.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes will take place at Tempe Town Lake on Saturday, November 2nd at 9:00 a.m. The registration process begins at 7:30 a.m. and the walk is a 5K and can be done at your own pace.
If you want to join our team, or if you can’t walk but would like to donate to Britt's Brigade, please go to this link and complete the online form:
We thank you in advance for helping us to reach our goal towards finding a cure!
