Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page!
Our lives were forever changed on July 19, 2013 when Kayden was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. We were all shocked and saddened with the realization that Kayden would no longer be able to lead a carefree life like most little boys his age. He now faces a lifelong battle with a disease that we can only manage, not control. Kayden is forced to check his blood sugar 4-6 times a day, get 3-4 insulin shots each day and deal with the overwhelming emotions of living a life with diabetes. He is one tough little boy and has not let his diabetes slow him down in the least. We are so proud of how far he has come in such a short time and we pray that one day he can live his life without having to worry about his diabetes. Kayden has asked why he has diabetes and no one else that he knows does. Unfortunately we do not have an answer for him. When he asks how we can find a cure for him and others facing Type 1 Diabetes we tell him that we can try to raise money for research. To that he has responded "Well we need to raise A LOT of money then so I don't have to have needle shots anymore!" Please donate what you can and help Kayden (and all the others out there with T1D) find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes!
Thank you all for your support!
I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin - a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
JDRF is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
Please support me and donate to my Walk fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible today?
Thank you for your support!
