Join me in the fight to give type-1 diabetes the boot

Welcome to my JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes personal fundraising page!

Allow me to give you a little background on myself. I have been a type-1 diabetic for almost 10 years. I started out with little to no knowledge of this disease other than it would forever change my lifestyle. Over the course of a decade, I have gained an immense amount of knowledge of this disease and how to live with it and keep it under control instead of letting it control me. It hasn't been an easy challenge, but one I grab by the horns and manage it as best I can. At one point, I was a 40x32 in pants and XXL in shirts. I am now down to a 32x34 in pants and wear a L in shirts now and I once weighed a staggering 265 lbs and now I am down to just about 200 lbs. My purpose for joining this year's diabetes walk is to give back to the community that I have called home for the last decade and to help out fellow diabetics and those who will also be diagnosed with this disease in hopes of finding a cure and funding more money to further educate those affected by this disease. I would love it for any and everybody to join me as a part of Team Boots 2 Diabetes. To me, it's not about getting the prizes or getting the attention or the spotlight, but rather, it's about doing the right thing without wanting the attention or the spotlight. I take pride in the fact that I will be helping out my community and helping out other people across the nation and around the world. I would be honored and blessed to call you a teammate of mine, and would be honored and blessed if you were able to make a donation on behalf of the team. Even if you are not able to physically attend, you can make a donation and participate as a "virtual walker". If you are able to make any contribution, from the bottom of my heart, I graciously thank you. If you are not able to, but took the time to look this up, I still graciously thank you for even reading this and considering everything.

I'm joining this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of millions of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help JDRF advance its strategic research plan to end T1D.

T1D is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, which the body needs to get energy from food. Managing the disease requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing, and lifelong dependence on insulin. With T1D there are no days off, and there is no cure.

JDRF is working every day to change that. And, as the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research, every dollar JDRF directs toward its research plan comes from donors like you.

Please support my commitment and donate to my Walk fundraising efforts today. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease.

Thank you for your support & God Bless
