Why, hello there.
You've stumbled upon the Feltkinsons for a Cure! team page for the 2013 Santa Barbara Walk to Cure Diabetes!
What is a Feltkinson?
The brainchild of team members and newlyweds John & Rachel, we are a group of family and friends on the Central Coast who are taking steps to help JDRF progressively remove the impact of type 1 diabetes (T1D) from people's lives until no one has to fear developing this disease.
Rachel Wilkinson + John Felts + family, friends, YOU = Feltkinsons for a Cure!
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
As family and friends we have banded together to put an end to T1D based on our personal experience with and connection to this difficult disease.
How can you become a Feltkinson?
JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. Every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
While Feltkinsons for a Cure! is a name given in good fun, as is the Walk itself, the cause behind what we are doing couldn't be more serious. The challenge we've set ourselves - to raise money for JDRF and to walk - is modest compared to the daily challenges of life with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.
Will you accept the Feltkinson Challenge? Will you become one of the team making a difference by walking with us? Just click on the "Join this Team" button, make a donation, and start fundraising.
Thank you for your support, it means more to us than you know.
We can't wait to welcome you to our Feltkinson Clan. We will celebrate our sucess on Walk Day with some BBQ food, a few bottles of bubbly (water) and smiles all around.
