Dear Friends and Family,
Team Dream O.N. is once again gearing up for this year's Walk for a Cure. Everyone who participated last year was instrumental in making Dream O.N.'s efforts a huge success, raising close to $10,000 and showing up in record numbers! In fact, Team Dream O.N. remains one of the leading teams in Northern California, and with your help, we can continue this legacy!
As the leader in type 1 diabetes funding, JDRF continues to be a major funder of cutting edge research. JDRF continues to be a major funder of some amazing research that is causing me to be more hopeful than ever that a cure for type 1 diabetes will be found in my lifetime! JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
Did you know that:
-T1D is an autoimmune disease that comes on suddenly and strikes both children and adults at any age.
-T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle.
-Those living with T1D are insulin dependent. They must carefully balance insulin doses with everything they eat, as well as all of their daily activities.
-Those living with T1D must test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood 8 or more times a day and often during the night.
-T1D poses both immediate and severe dangers when blood glucose levels fall too low and long term damage to one's body when blood glucose levels are left too high.
Until a cure is found, I will do all I can to help! I am hoping that you will join me in making a difference for the millions of people that did not choose to live with this disease. While there are a great number of families and doctors fighting tirelessly and waiting patiently for a better life, they cannot do it alone. The researchers who will one day declare a victory over type 1 diabetes are in need today of money to continue their efforts.
This is why I am once again participating in the JDRF Walk for a Cure. I am hoping that you will join me at the walk on Sunday, October 6th, 8:00 a.m. at the state capitol and/or donate any amount you can to Team Dream O.N.
Together we are making a difference! Thanks for keeping the dream alive!
