Our names are Tony Corr and Danielle Garcie and we are both Type 1 Diabetics. Tony is 21 years old and going on 13 years with diabetes, I am 18 and going on 6 years as a diabetic. At 10 and 12 years old both of our lives changed dramatically. We both went from being normal kids to having to inject ourselves with insulin at least 5+ times a day. We both had to learn how count carbs and keep track of everything we put in our mouths. Both of have become frequent vistiors to the ER and even the ICU due to our diabetes and issues that come along with it. Tony is still doing shots and I now have an insulin pump, which requires me to restart a pump site every 3 days. Diabetes doesn't give us nights or weekends off, we can't take a holiday from taking our insulin or keeping track of our blood sugars. If you are close friends or family to either of us you know this all too well. Hopefully, with donations raised by walks like this and support from JDRF this everyday struggle will only be temporary.
Did you know that:
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
Thank you for your support!
