Welcome to my personal JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraising page! I'll be taking part in this year's Walk to raise funds to improve the lives of all people affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D).
On August 2007, my granddaughter, Grace, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). This day changed our family's life forever. Type 1 diabetes has no cure. Many people believe that insulin is a cure, but it is not. Diabetes needs constant attention. To stay alive, people with type 1 diabetes must take multiple insulin injections daily or continually infuse insulin through a pump. Each day, every day, for the rest of Grace's life she will have to carefully monitor food and insulin intake, as well as exercise to maintain a careful balance and avoid high or low blood sugar reactions that can be life-limiting or life threatening.
I am asking you to help support Grace's Groupies at the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes on November 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM at University of California, Irvine. By making a personal donation you will help make a difference in the life of Grace and all those living with T1D. The money we raise will go to improve the lives of every person affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating and preventing T1D.
As the leader of the type 1 diabetes community, JDRF unifies global efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible?
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely, Kathy Salter
